Five-minute practice
[CHECK: new drill written by the workflow: approve or replace it, and add today's drill poll]
Interview · Answer one AI-interviewer-style screening question aloud in 90 seconds, then score yourself against the rubric.
Question: Pick a question from your own field that an AI model might answer confidently but wrongly. Walk me through how you would check its answer and explain the error to the model. Answer aloud in 90 seconds, then rate yourself.
The answer and why:
A strong answer names one concrete question from your field, not a general topic. It states where models tend to go wrong (an outdated rule, a skipped step, a misread condition) and how you would verify the correct answer against an authoritative source, such as a statute, a textbook result, or a reproducible calculation. It then shows how you would write the correction: what is wrong, why, and what the right reasoning looks like, in plain language. It ends within the time, with no filler. Weak answers stay abstract, claim expertise without showing it, or say what is wrong without saying how they checked.
Rubric:
Used one specific, real example from my field rather than a general description
Explained how I would verify the correct answer and named the kind of source
Described the model's error and the correct reasoning step by step
Spoke clearly, stayed on the question and finished within 90 seconds
Independent practice, not a real platform question.
Your next move
Before applying, check the fixed requirements, since none of today's listings state a screening step. For the Mercor STEM project, confirm two things: you own a Mac and you hold or are pursuing an MSc or PhD. If either is missing, skip it. For the xAI tax role, write two sentences naming which area you know best (individual, partnership or corporate taxation) and one statutory question you could reason through. For the micro1 role, decide whether you can work full-time, because that is one of the few things the listing states. Then record yourself doing today's drill once, using an example from your field.
